The mystery of Lord Krishna Death and Curse

Lord Krishna who accompanied and made sure that Pandavas defeat the Kauravas was in many ways responsible for the death and blood that happened during the Mahabharata war. Many mothers lost their sons, many wives became widowed since they lost their husbands and many children lost both father and mother to become orphans. Lord Krishna considered that the Mahabharata war was for the good of the mankind and the victory should be for the rightful Pandavas. As kismat would have it, this was the case. However, many mothers lost their dear sons in the war and their pain was unbearable. One such mother who lost 100 of her sons during the big war was Gandhari living with a pain that could not be expressed in words. During the war, she saw her eldest son, Duryodhan naked without any protection and gave him a shield as a boon. As per astrology predictions, even though Gandhari tried to help Duryodhan, Lord Krishna knew that the end of Duryodhan had to happen for the good of mankind and hence advised the Pandavas accordingly.

The Great War which ended with the loss of numerous lives in Kurukshetra was a massive victory for the Pandavas. However, Gandhari who prayed to Lord Krishna in connection with the war for many years to protect her sons felt betrayed by her own God. She spoke to Lord Krishna saying that she had spent many years praying to him and that he be merciful on her sons. But, the Lord Vishnu avatar had not considered her pleas and killed all 100 sons of her and left her world in pieces. She also said that every son of Kuru murdered other brothers from their own land till no one survived. She then said that Lord Krishna stood in the war like a mocking God enjoying the fall of the Kauravas. Now, she cursed the Lord saying that he be dead in another 36 years and that the kingdom of Yadava be flooded and destroyed from the face of earth. She also cursed that the kins of Yadava slaughter each other just as the kins of Kuru did to each other.

Though this was a curse from Gandhari, Lord Krishna wanted part of the curse to come true. He felt that as horoscope had showed earlier, the Yadavas would become more powerful and be a burden to the world in future. Therefore, even Lord Krishna wanted the Yadava clan to be removed. So, when Gandhari gave her curse, Krishna thanked her and said that he wanted the same to happen.

As was the curse, the Yadavas soon fought a battle amongst themselves and blood ran through their streets as they slaughtered and killed one another.

Meanwhile after 36 years had passed, one day Lord Krishna lay down under a tree and went into Yoga Samadhi. It was during that time that a hunter named Jara came into the forest. He looked at Krishna’s foot and mistook it for the leg of a deer. Jara aimed and shot an arrow into the bushes and it hit its mark. This was when Krishna realized that his time on earth had come to an end that he must return to devalok to be with other gods. Thus the curse and death of Lord Krishna came true.
