Lucky Nine colors for the Nine days of Navratri

The nine days of celebration of Navratri is a tribute to the nine avatars of Maa Durga, the Shakti. She is revered and worshipped in many forms. To pay respects to the nine different goddesses who are the various avatars of Maa Durga, 9 different colors of sarees are worn by women on across 9 days of the Navratri festival. This year, the Sharad Navratri is 10 days long. The festival begins on 1st October and ends on 11th October.

It has to be kept in mind that Navratri in its core is celebrating the spirit of womanhood. Similar to the nine avatars of Maa Durga, Navratri celebrates the nine stages of a woman’s life as daughter, sister, friend, mother, wife etc. The nine colors of sarees, worn as one color for each day will talk about the characteristics of the different avatars of Maa Durga. The most important puja that is performed during this festival season is Kanya Puja which is done to respect womanhood and to appease girl children in families.
